Welcome to Business Travel Quarterly, the e-zine of btTB/GBTA for corporate travel managers in Australia and New Zealand.
In this bumper issue, we take a look at the brave new world in an interview with leading industry technologist and futurist Johhny Thorsen. Johnny has helped create and manage a several new systems over the past twenty years in his own companies and within other large travel IT firms. He discusses NDC, Blockchain and AI. We’ll be hearing other thoughts on these areas in the next edition of BTQ. Johnny will be at the National Conference in Sydney on May 8th and 9th.
Next in line, yours truly runs through a several client-unfriendly practices that can occur in the supply chain; things that cost you to watch out for and avoid.
We then get a healthy serving of frank, nuts-and-bolts advice on hotel negotiation and management from a veteran in that sector, Jakki Govan. Jakki recently started her own consultancy after years of senior management positions with leading hotels and hotel chains.
Finally, the word of an experienced buyer. Zarina Carty has been a senior procurement manager with Santos and Schneider Electric. At Santos, she managed a complex portfolio of supply categories across large and diverse operations. She is also an expert in corporate travel management. She discusses broader expense management data, and the power of good top-down compliance reporting.
We are well into our series of Regional Seminars across the region, having run the event in Adelaide, Melbourne and Auckland. Next are Brisbane and Perth. In this series, we tackle uses for travel data, TMC fees and financials, and “Value or Price?” Thank you to all our attendees, and we hope you made some good contacts and took home practical and useful information. And thank you to our sponsors; CTM, FCM and Voyager ATPI. The next series will be run in the second half of 2018.
Please let me know if there is an issue or a topic that you’d like to see covered in our seminars, our conferences, or here in BTQ.
I hope you enjoy this edition of Business Travel Quarterly. The next issue will be in May.
